Networking is daunting. However it is the most important skill in business and life in general. Building networks takes time, and it requires patience. Building quality relationships takes time! Focus on building good; reliable relationships, that you will cherish for a life time.
Four things to consider
1. Trust
Deliver your service with integrity consistently. Prove that you are reliable and you are completely interested in your client’s satisfaction with your service. This will earn your trust, an important foundation for your relationship with your clients.
2. Reciprocity
Every networking encounter should bring value to both parties. Do not waste your time and do not waste other people’s time either. Be clear with the exchange of value and be confident.
3.Time
Time is money, use it wisely. Select your networking opportunities carefully. Have clear goals and ensure that you achieve them. If an event does not yield the desired result do not repeat the experience.
4. Respect
Respect the relationships you have built. Meaning continuously deliver the value you promised during your first encounter. Only share a contact if it is an extension of the value you promised to deliver.
Make networking a way of life and not an occasion. Invest time in planning it and selecting your networking opportunities. Be brave; be confident and be worth it.
